Garden tidy / re-vamp

This is a good garden to case study as it has lots of different elements to it.

The customers are looking to rent the house out so wanted the garden tidied and easier to manage for possible new tenants. The requirements from me were suggestions  for a heavily shaded area against a fence, new turf and lawn care, new stepping stones, new fence and general garden maintenance. Included in this was a chance to make a toy store and a (very) mini patio !

The shaded area was along a long new fence and Clematis had been planted but as this requires full sun, I moved this to the opposite fence. I then made a small raised border and planted 3 different Ferns and primroses to add form and colour.

The new fence wasn’t as straight forward as first thought, existing post and panels were concreted in as along a path and a brick wall built around them, after testing the possibility of removing the large amount of concrete we decided to simply replace the post and panels already in place and plant a short box hedge to continue the boundary from the neighbour.

The lawn required new turf and some repair, some old stepping stones were found mostly buried. These were removed and used later on. New stepping stones were added. An old broken builders slab in front of the shed was removed and I made a very small patio using the old stepping stones in it’s place.

Finally the family had three young children and many bikes and scooters. They asked me to make a simple bike / toy store to keep the toys and bikes dry and away from the front door!
