My clients were no longer enjoying being in their garden, feeling that it had become rather harsh and uninviting. The brief was, then, to design a space that was more inviting and far softer in appearance, as well as being easy to maintain.
I came up with the idea of a Mediterranean style garden, which met with my clients’ approval – so I drew up a design that, while adding a fresh and comfortable atmosphere, maintained some of the garden’s original features. This combination of styles, along with the use of a variety of different materials and techniques, created the illusion of a mature and well-established garden. Adding aged pots, hardwood decking, an impressive 85 year old olive tree along with uncalibrated sandstone, weathered sleepers really enhanced this effect. Lighting was installed as a finished touch all round the garden to illuminate the area the in the evening to great effect. The client was very pleased, as was I!
