Italian courtyard

I was invited round to discuss what could be done in a smaller family rear garden. The home owners had a young Son and a another child on the way (actually arrived 2 weeks early and while I was building the garden) and wanted it a cleaner, easier garden to enjoy.

Seeing the gardens position already had high walls and fence round it gave me the idea of trying to create a courtyard feel. The owner was also a designer and we both agreed an Italian courtyard would fit the area perfectly. The design was simple in the end but was a big change and one I particularly liked. The area was levelled with timber retaining walls & drainage added. Grey sandstone slabs down and new plants added, lots of addition pots and containers added with olive and bay trees coming in the new year.

Ben did a fantastic job and has transformed our garden from a sloped, boggy, not very usable space to a lovely, fresh clean-feeling space that we can’t wait to spend time in and enjoy once we have some dry weather! Ben was really hard-working and had to deal with some unforeseen challenges (including sink holes which were a surprise discovery!) but he did a really thorough, meticulous job. Ben’s passionate about garden design as well as build and we really valued his creative input and enthusiasm for making the space look great. We’ve already recommended him to friends will continue to do so. Oh and he’s a really nice guy!
