A fresh new look

Flexibility was the key to the success of this family garden.

My original design focused on the addition of artificial turf, since the current lawn was uneven and in poor condition (contributed to by the family’s young dog) whilst also creating a pleasant area on which to look out and enjoy. This idea included a small fence along the existing patio and new deck to keep the dog in check but when, sadly, the family had to let the dog go, we changed the plan, adding lights in place of the fence.

In this new design, I extended the decking to run along the patio to tie the two areas together. Within this, the addition of two sunken beds for planting added interest from the house. The shrubs at the side were cut back and new sleeper raised edging was added. A new gravel path, running to the rear of the garden, with a baton screen and archway gave the illusion of length. Artificial lawn was added to finish off this unusual-shaped garden.
