New build garden

I was asked to help make a garden where their was none !

New build houses usually come with a small slabbed area, sometimes some turf but mainly just flat earth. The house purchased was for rental so the new owners wanted a low maintenance but a pleasant / functional garden for their tenants to enjoy. It was nice dealing with the new owners as they wanted to make sure the garden was right for the house, the temptation can be to simply turf / shingle or patio the whole thing and forget about it.

The new owners had a budget they wanted to work to and we’re open to ideas on top of there own – from my point of view I simply suggested a smaller patio area than they had requested and a path leading to the shed to allow for a slightly bigger lawn area. I also wanted to add a small area off the patio to allow for either planting of simple small shrubs or potted plants to give some form / life to the garden.

Although a fairly straight forward garden it was enjoyable to do as it was making something completely new they could enjoy and I was happy with the results.

“We had purchased a brand new house and the rear garden was just rotavated with the exception of a small (and useless) patio area.  We had some preconceptions of what we were looking for regarding size of patio & lawn areas and on his first visit Ben provided some excellent advice on how we should progress, reducing the size of the proposed patio slightly, increasing the lawn area and suggesting a path down the side of the garden to the shed.

Once we had finalized the format Ben scheduled in the work and we are all delighted with the final results.  Ben built a much larger patio and pathway over a slightly sloping site so had to include leveling and stepping.  Once the patio and pathway were completed the remainder of the garden was turfed, with the boarders getting a final touch of green slate stones to finish the edging.  We now have a lovely usable garden, well-proportioned and excellently laid out.  Greenbee’s work was first class and they left the site clean & tidy.  Ben insisted on performing additional work late in the evening to ensure we had a fully completed garden even though this wasn’t part of our original agreement – he just wanted to make sure everything was complete and we could get on with using the garden.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Ben and Greenbee Gardening for patio and turfing work and I am thoroughly please with the final result. “
